Amit Singhal, Senior Vice President of Google Search, one of the leading pioneers of Google search for desktop, mobile and other appliances, has announced that he is quitting the company. He will quit the company after 15 years of dedicated service.
His last day on Google will be on February 26, 2016. The reason for quitting the job is to perform philanthropic works and spend more time with family especially with wife and son, as he couldn’t spend much time due to busy schedules over the years. He further said that he is carrying lots of fond memories and probably leaving behind a footprint in the company. He wants to dedicate the next 15 years of his life in uplifting poor and do philanthropy works.
He further said that search is stronger than before and will get better at the able hands of other senior leaders who are already running several positions at Google.
John Giannandrea, who led in artificial intelligence effort like RankBrain, will replace Singhal in his place. John Giannandrea is the present vice president of Google engineering team and working there for six years.
The whole search community is going to miss this person and wish him good luck on its next journey.
